I love exploring nature and often do it through my travels. It enables me to discover a wonderful world of animals, extraordinary sights and local legends.
That’s what inspires me and can be seen in my work.
I paint in oils. Carrying camera and a notebook with me allows me to capture any fresh ideas as they pop into my head. I often start a new project with an outline in Photoshop. After transferring it to the canvas, I map primary tones and follow with multiple layers and glazes.
The modern epidemic of busyness takes its toll on most of us. Using vibrant colours, playing with colour harmonies and contrast, I strive to make my art viewer slow down, stop for a moment and contemplate tranquillity. Find serenity through my eyes, or often through the eyes of an animal which tell its own unique story.
Sylwia Rusak was born in Łódź, Poland and lives in Dublin, Ireland since 2006.
She discovered her love for art at an early age. While spending summers with her family as a child, she was mesmerised watching her uncle, an amateur artist, paint. After experimenting with pencil sketches, dry and oil pastels she became fond of oils. At the age of 14, she completed her first oil painting.
Sylwia painted on and off throughout her adult life but focused on her artistic development in 2014 when she joined classes of renowned Irish painter Brian McCarthy.
Photography & graphic design are also close to Sylwia’s heart, and she uses her skills in her marketing career.
